A Study on Bone Scanning in Experimental fracture of Rabbit Tibia

Abstract
There are many difficulties in clinical evaluation of fracture healing process even with thorough radiological examination in frequent intervals.
The superiority of bone scaning with 99mTc-diphosphonate in searching of variety of disorders affecting skeletal system is claimed by its enthusiasts.
As an initial step of its clinical application, the relationship between time lapse of fracture and change in bone scanning is chronologically evaluated in rabbit, inducing experimental fracture at tibia.
The following results are obtained.
1. There is no increased uptake of radioisotope on, post-fracture 10th day.
2. Increased uptake are noticed on post-fracture 17th day in 2 cases, the other 4 cases
appears on 24th day.
3. Degree of increased uptake are decreased from post-fracture 45th day.
